Oakwell Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will help our veterinarians and technicians provide excellent care while making every patient and client feel welcome. We are looking for someone who takes pride in the details, communicates well, and is ready to help wherever the day calls for it.
Previous veterinary experience is preferred, but we welcome applicants who are eager to learn and committed to providing thoughtful, high-quality care. - Safely handle and gently restrain dogs and cats during examinations and treatments.
- Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for appointments and procedures.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care as directed and within your training.
- Monitor patients, recognize changes or concerns, and promptly communicate them to the medical team.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain a clean, organized hospital.
- Help with patient intake, medical records, and client communication as needed.
- Restock supplies and support the team in keeping appointments and daily operations running smoothly.
- A genuine commitment to animal care and client service.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail.
- The ability to stay organized and adapt in a busy hospital environment.
- Comfort handling animals of different sizes and temperaments while following safety protocols.
- Reliability, a willingness to learn, and a professional attitude.
